On April 22nd, in a ceremony at the Tampa City Hall, Mayor Pam Iorio proclaimed April 22nd as "Brazil Day" in Tampa and presented an official proclamation to Roberto Bruni, director of the Brazil 2005 festival. April 22nd marks the anniversary of the discovery of Brazil in 1500. On behalf of the City of Tampa, Mayor Iorio then received the painting "Carnaval" by BrasilArts artist Ernani Silva. The "Carnaval" image is the official logo of the Brazil 2005 Festival.
