Gilda Lacerda                                                      BrasilArts

Gilda Lacerda was born in May 1964 in Brasil, and lives in Sγo Paulo and Lausanne. A multi-talented artist, she began to paint in 1994, and also has worked in handcrafts and jewelry. Warm, expansive, and at times comical, the paintings of this self-taught Brasilian artist reveal a personal viewpoint rendered in vibrant colors. Her art is organic and instinctive, with perpetual movement and fantastic figures full of happiness. Tempered by observations of the everyday lives of the people of northeastern Brasil, nature is her inspiration. Her paintings are alive with an interplay of characters, animals, signs and symbols. As Gilda says, "The purpose of my art is simple: to bring out the humor in life and leave the viewer with a moment of happiness."    Return
