Claudio Giulianelli was born in
Rome, Italy in 1956. Though he studied chemical science in college, during
his studies he felt a growing interest in art. This interest grew into a
passion, leading him to study art history, fine arts and classical painting
techniques. He focused his research on classical art, guided by intense
observations of the Old Masters. Books about Caravaggio and painters of the
Flemish school became his constant companions. Claudio developed and refined
his style through meetings with well-known Italian painters such as Delfo
Previtali and Guido Razzi.
Over the years, he traveled
throughout Europe to see the classical works of the Old Masters in person.
It is evident that the realizations and emotions he experienced in the
presence of these masterpieces inspired his future works. His works echo a
variety of classical themes and motifs while exhibiting a decidedly
contemporary European sentiment. In 1992, Claudio moved to Corchiano, a
small Etruscan town near Rome, where he currently lives and works.
