Humberto
"Beto" Carrazzone was born in 1967 in São José do Rio Preto in the state of São Paulo, Brasil.
He has been painting for about ten years, and his unusual works have been
exhibited in various individual and group shows in galleries and museums in
Brasil and Italy.
Although his work is
rooted in a modern aesthetic, hints of Oriental and African moods may surface in
his art. Says Beto, "What began as a series of designs in the early '90s
grew into an archive of signs and symbols that characterize my work. I have
developed my paintings on the most distinctive surfaces, in order to bring
into focus the relationship of these symbols to my artwork."
"Over the years, I have
been influenced by images from alchemy and, using various materials such as
recycled paper, resins, paraffin and bees wax, I've discovered ways to
produce textured pieces replete with metaphoric ideas that have provided the
key to my more recent works. Today, introducing new discoveries, I am
creating a new generation of symbolic archives within my paintings."
