  • BrasilArts Welcomes Anna Mallmann

  • The 2007 Brasil Arts Festival in St. Petersburg

    BrasilArts and EMIT teamed up once again to present the Brasil Arts Festival, a multi-media event of Brazilian art, music and theater on Sunday, May 27th at the Studio@620 Gallery in St. Petersburg. The event featured paintings by Brazilian artists affiliated with BrasilArts in a one-day show, music by the bossa nova quintet Brisa do Brasil, and plenty of special guests. Alvon Griffin led a "batucada" drum group with samba-style rhythms from a variety of hand drums and Brazilian percussion instruments. The Volta ao Mundo school performed demonstrations of capoeira, the Brazilian martial art. Brazilian performer Wilson Loria presented a scene from his theater piece, "Ões".   • Past Exhibitions

    The HOT SUMMER NIGHTS show had a great opening night on Friday, July 20th, 2006. Presented by the Lyssa Morgan Gallery and BrasilArts, the show featured the works of ten female Brazilian artists affiliated with BrasilArts. A steady stream of art lovers enjoyed the opening at the South Tampa gallery. Guests were also treated to a selection of typical Brasilian hors d'ouevres provided by Tampa's Brasilia Grill Churrascaria and Brazilian wines courtesy of Miolo Brazilian Wines.     "Beach Party", a painting by Gilda Lacerda was featured in the BIG ART SHOW at Tampa International Airport's "Airside A" terminal (Southwest and Continental airlines) for the first half of 2006. Her painting was one of ten large-scale works chosen for this impressive public-space installation sponsored by the Outdoor Arts Foundation.

     

    In April 2005, at a ceremony proclaiming Brazil Day in Tampa, Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio received a painting from Ernani Silva, Mara Carli and Roberto Bruni in conjunction with the Brazil 2005 festival. Click HERE for more details and pictures.

     

    Works of six BrasilArts artists were featured at The ABC Show - Argentina, Brasil and Cuba exhibition, in April 2005 at the Matthews Fine Art Gallery in downtown Tampa. The exhibition included works by BrasilArts artists Olivia Amaral, Beto Carrazzone, Gilda Lacerda, Miguel Penha,  Ernani Silva and Alice Vilhena. The Matthews Gallery was located at 19 South Hyde Park Avenue, just south of Kennedy Blvd. and the University of Tampa campus. Click on the link below to see photos of the show opening.
